Guinness World Record for longest LAN Party

New Guinness World Record for Longest Non-Stop Gaming Party

LevelOne Switches help smash old record by a 5-hour margin

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - On April 10th, 2009 the 291 participants of CyberFusion 2009 began their attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for longest non-stop LAN party.

At the end of the 40-hour event 17 gamers had dropped out of the event due to fatigue.   However, there were still 274 gamers left to claim their name in the history books, breaking the previous record by a whopping 5 hours.

The previous record of 36 hours was set by 203 gaming enthusiasts in California in 2008.

The organizers supplied more than 1,500 cans of energy drink to keep participants awake during the 2-day event, organized by Cyberview and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

LevelOne was a proud to be a sponsor with our professional level Ethernet switches existing at both the core and the edge of the network.  As the sole infrastructure provider at the event, the organizers put the switches through rigorous testing before approving their use in the record-breaking event.

GSW-2494 - 24-Port Gigabit L2 SNMP Stacking Switch [Core Switch]

Core switch - GSW-2494 GSW-2494 is a feature-rich Ethernet switch that provides Gigabit speed on all ports, port trunking, virtual stacking, QoS, SNMP management, and much more. For CyberFusion 2009, GSW-2494 sat at the core acting as the brain of the network and routing all traffic to each gaming node on the network.

GSW-2457 - 24-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch [Edge Switch]

EDGE SWITCH GSW-2457 is a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet that possesses a large 48 Gbit switching backplane for clear and smooth traffic sending.  It has auto-negotiation on all ports as well as store-and-forward architecture which meant that all traffic sent to the edge of the network arrived without delay or interruption.
